Our modular production process
Every process step is arranged as a separate module in its own compartment. This allows us to process different ingredients and align production with product quality and allergen segregation.

Extrusion
The extruder gives the product its shape and texture. DFE operates several Coperion twin-screw extruders with accurate gravimetric and liquid feeding systems for a consistent finished product.

Drying and cooling
After extrusion, the added moisture is reduced to the required level. Our equipment includes fluidised-bed dryers with drying and cooling sections and air circulation. They can be adjusted for granules, flakes and crumbs, even to a moisture content below 4%. The dryers are designed for quick intermediate cleaning.
Gentle internal transport
Conveyor belts and spiral conveyors handle fragile extrudates carefully. This limits damage, breakage and dust formation between process steps.
Adding flavour and coating
A tumbler can apply a flavour coating, for example using an oil spray. An extensive range of seasonings is available through one of our sister companies.
Crushing and sieving
After drying, a crusher can reduce the product to a uniform structure without heating. Simultaneous sieving is possible into up to four fractions. Different sieve decks accommodate a range of particle sizes.
Packaging
The group has extensive experience in blending and packaging. Alongside standard big bags, options include 10 kg bags and consumer packs.
